Factors that determine which concrete saw you should rent include the power source available, the material you will cut, how deep you need to cut it and the amount of cutting necessary. Consider which of the following features you will need on your concrete saw rental. Your ARA-affiliated rental store professionals also can assist you in choosing the best concrete saw to rent for your purposes.
Type. It is important to rent an appropriate concrete saw for your application. For instance, if you need to cut and remove a concrete floor, a walk-behind concrete saw will help you accomplish the job easier than a hand-held concrete saw would. See Rent a Concrete Saw to Match the Application for more information on types of concrete saws.
Power source. Gas, diesel, propane, electricity, air or hydraulic pressure may power concrete saws. Electric, hydraulic and pneumatic concrete saws do not produce exhaust fumes, which makes them ideal for indoor use. Lighter, hydraulic concrete saws provide high-torque cutting in tight quarters. Gas or propane concrete saws offer more portability for outside applications.
Manual vs. self-propelled. Not only do self-propelled saws make cutting easier, they also often support larger blades than manual saws do. Larger blades allow them to make deeper cuts.
Water kit capabilities. This feature on a rented concrete saw reduces wear when cutting concrete and stone by keeping dust down and cooling the blade.
Dust collection systems. Some concrete saw rentals hook up to a vacuum to collect dust created by dry cutting.
Other features. When selecting a concrete saw to rent, other features to consider include blade capacity, cutting depth, horsepower and a dust diverter to prevent dust from covering up the saw line.
